President Donald Trump imposes on Nigeria and 5 other countries a new travel ban following on the insecurity in these 5 countries
This an intention of expanding his administration’s policy blocking travel from certain nations.
The new policy, which will not allow people from Nigeria, Eritrea, Myanmar and Kyrgyzstan to apply for visas to migrate to the United States.
The policy is to strengthen security for nations that do not meet U.S. minimum security requirements.
The U.S randomly awards green cards to 50,000 immigrants from Sudan and Tanzania each year.
Recently, The Wall Street Journal states that
Sudan and Tanzania, are barred from participating in the diversity visa lottery in accordance with the scheme.
The new restrictions will be an effect from Feb 21, and will only apply to new visa applications.
Nigeria and the five other countries would enter a group of seven countries that faced travel restrictions at the initial travel ban imposed earlier in 2017 by President Trump.
